Vermicompost well in the temple premises: Commissioner of the municipality of Siddipet


Siddipet Municipality Commissioner KV Ramana Chary alerted management to the fact that temple waste can be turned into useful vermicompost.

Siddipet: In order to limit the amount of waste that reaches the dumps, the municipal authorities of Siddipet have decided to set up compost pits in the premises of the Siddipet temples.

Siddipet Municipality Commissioner KV Ramana Chary, who met with temple priests and temple leadership Sarabeshwara Swamy and Renuka Yellamma on Friday, made them aware that waste such as flowers, fruits and the like can be transformed into useful vermicompost.

Claiming that it can be a very good fertilizer, the commissioner suggested that vermicompost could be used to grow flowering and fruit trees on temple grounds. KV Ramana Chary said there would be two benefits with the initiative, it will help them limit the waste reaching the landfill and make the best use of it.
