Registration opens for Nutley Public Library’s summer reading program
Nutley Public Library invites Nutley children, teens and adults to participate in their summer reading program again with a special launch event on Saturday June 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.. Children and teens who sign up for the summer reading program can stop by the library grounds and pick up a bag of goodies and “Good Humor Man” ice cream!
Residents can start registering and recording reading milestones for the 2021 Summer Reading Program starting June 1, 2021 at nutleypubliclibrary.beanstack.org. Registration and logging continues throughout the summer until August 10. This year’s theme, Tails and tales, explores stories and facts about the many types of animals on this planet, from exotic beasts and working animals to beloved family pets.
In addition to a registration bag, babies, children and teens who register for the program will also win a mystery prize bag at the end of the summer after completing the program. Participants of all ages will also earn virtual tickets as they complete the reading stages. Each ticket can then be entered into a contest to win big prizes, and the winners will be announced on August 12 after a virtual performance by Rizzo’s Wildlife.
The more books you read, the more virtual tickets you win and the more likely you are to win a big prize. Some of this year’s grand prizes in the kids, teens and adults categories include a Nintendo Switch Lite, Turtleback Zoo Family Pass, local business gift cards, book bundles featuring graphic novels, and more. again.
The 2021 Summer Reading Program will also include a variety of virtual and in-person programs for all ages. Events include craft programs, storytelling hours, craft workshops, live performances, cooking programs, all-summer reading BINGO, and more. This summer, library visitors can also enjoy special outdoor exhibits on the library grounds and donate goods to a local animal group. Volunteer opportunities for teens will also be available.
The programs and prizes offered throughout the summer are free and made possible through generous donations from the Friends of Nutley Public Library.
