The Department of English is a leading center for English studies in the Asian region and enjoys an international reputation for its research in English language and literature, creative writing and professional communication. The City University of Hong Kong is ranked among the top 150 universities for English language and literature in the world.

Functions:

The appointee will work in one of the fields described above and will be expected to conduct quality research, teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses, develop curricula, supervise students, and undertake administrative and service-related activities.

Conditions:

The Department is interested in applicants with teaching and research expertise in world literatures. Candidates should ideally have experience teaching or coordinating surveying courses.

A PhD in English Literature or another relevant field. Applicants should be able to demonstrate successful academic teaching experience and have a strong research track record (relative to career stage).

The candidates to Professor/Associate Professor must have postgraduate supervisory and leadership experience in research, teaching, and curriculum development.

The nominee will have the opportunity to be part of a stimulating and collegial team of researchers.

Salary and conditions of service

Total compensation will be determined by market competitiveness and individual performance. Excellent benefits include gratuities, time off, medical and dental plans, and relocation assistance (if applicable). The first appointment will be on a fixed-term contract.
