Created in 2000, the Department (http://www.LN.edu.hk/cultural/) offers a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Cultural Studies with a strong interdisciplinary focus. It also admits postgraduate research students leading to the award of masters and doctoral degrees. Since 2003, it has offered a self-funded teaching program leading to the Master of Cultural Studies. The faculty of the department also contributes to the work of the new Center for Cultural Research and Development (https://culturalresearch.center/).
The Department is seeking to appoint a postdoctoral fellow with an established record of scholarship and peer-reviewed publications. Candidates must hold a PhD in a related discipline and demonstrate that they are active researchers engaged in the development of interdisciplinary cultural studies projects covering at least two of the following areas: digital culture, social media and work, etc. . Priority will be given to those who can show early evidence of research and publications of international quality.
The appointee should conduct targeted research in their areas of expertise, publish scientific findings in respectable peer-reviewed international journals, and provide support for various funding applications. Teaching experience at the university level is a definite advantage. The appointee will teach two courses per year and perform related teaching or other duties as assigned by the Head of Department.
The terms of engagement will be competitive. Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuities, inbound passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointee. The experienced candidate of Postdoctoral Fellow can carry a functional title of Research Assistant Professor.
The appointment will be on a one-year fixed term contract commencing April 2022. Contract renewal for another year may be considered but will be subject to review, mutual agreement and availability of the resources.
