Police call after burglary at Swindon Hindu Temple and Cultural Center

Police are seeking information from the public following a burglary at the Swindon Hindu Temple and Cultural Center on Wednesday morning January 26.

Shortly after 9am Wiltshire Police received a report of a burglary at the Darby Close place of worship in the Cheney Manor industrial estate in Swindon.

Officers believe a quantity of copper cables, along with other items, were stolen from inside the building.

Damage was also caused inside the building.

Detectives are actively investigating this crime and are following a number of potential investigative leads.

Superintendent Phil Staynings said: ‘It is very concerning and we are actively investigating this incident.

“We are working closely with the Hindu community in Swindon to keep them informed as this develops.

“This is completely unacceptable and I urge anyone with information about who may be responsible for this crime to call us urgently.”

Anyone with information about those responsible should call Wiltshire Police on 101, quoting Newspaper 53 for today (January 26).
