The second Frankfurt Chinese Art and Culture Festival opened in downtown Frankfurt on Friday, bringing many cultural programs and delicate Chinese cuisine to locals.

The festival, or “Frankfurt Chinafest”, aims to promote mutual understanding between cultures and deepen friendship between China and Germany, organizers said.

Hundreds of visitors flocked to the three-day festival, which features a diverse program of stage performances as well as activity tents and stalls offering authentic Chinese snacks and cultural traditions.

Sun Congbin, Chinese Consul General in Frankfurt, said in an opening speech that “Frankfurt Chinafest” provides a platform for people-to-people exchanges as the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Germany.

Juergen Scheuermann, former chairman of the Hanau city council and chairman of the Hanau-Taizhou Friendship Association, told Xinhua that China-Germany relations are of great importance and their friendship is based on the exchange and communication.

This year’s “Frankfurt Chinafest” provides a very good stage for cross-cultural communication and experiences, Scheuermann said.
