Generations of visitors have created lasting memories in national parks, and the Joshua Tree National Park Association invites you to create new memories with them on Saturday May 7 with the official opening of the Joshua Tree National Park Cultural Center Tree. Monday, May 2 at 5:00 p.m. will be the end of an era. The Information/Welcome Center currently located at Mara Oasis will be relocating to the new Joshua Tree Cultural Center at Freedom Plaza, located in downtown Twentynine Palms. The center is located on the south side of Highway 62 between Yucca Avenue (soon to become Freedom Way) and Smoketree Avenue. This project, known as “Project Phoenix”, is a collaboration between the City of Twentynine Palms, Joshua Tree National Park, local tribes and the Bureau of Land Management.

The Joshua Tree National Park Visitor Bookstores are operated by the Joshua Tree National Park Association (JTNPA). The Joshua Tree National Park Information Center and Bookstore will open Saturday, May 7 at 8:30 a.m. To celebrate, JTNPA will be hosting a free all-day family event!

Join them to learn more about the organization and see the specialty items sold at the centers to educate the public about Joshua Tree National Park. Come hear the Singing Ranger strum his guitar and perform songs he wrote about various locations in the park. Each participant will also have a chance to win prizes! No purchase is necessary and the winner will be notified if they are not present when the tickets are drawn.

Don’t miss this party! The opening will coincide with the regular Saturday Farmer’s Market and will continue throughout the day.
